Platform

At the local level, support regionalization of Everett Transit improving services and future capabilities. Support completion of the Silverlake walking trail and other efforts to make Everett more accessible and pedestrian friendly. At the regional level advocate for Sound Transit to prioritize the Everett extension of light rail. Demonstrate the value of connecting Everett to the rest of the region.

Local & Regional
Transportation

Volunteers

We must address the budget deficit. To do this, I will like focus Red Light Cameras, Regionalization of Fire, and Partnering with Non-profits.

Red Light Cameras increase safety and income. The City of Renton received $3.5 million in fines in 2018. They have 7 red light cameras and 6 school-zone speed cameras. Fines are $124.

Supporting regionalization efforts for Fire can help with the budget deficit. Regionalization efforts throughout the county have been a success. Voters in Arlington just approved regionalization efforts for this reason.

To expand or enhance needed services, I would form partnerships with non-profit organizations in the community. This includes providing public space and business tools, and connecting non-profits with business partnership opportunities that benefit everyone.

Everett has been facing a Deficit for years which may mean an increase in taxes is necessary. All raises in taxes will be brought before the  voters to decide. I will not approve any tax raise that does not result in an measurable increase in necessary services.

Covid Recovery

Addressing this issue requires a multi-pronged approach.

I would partner with the Chamber of Commerce to support businesses reopening as well as support and stimulate new business development in my district and the City as a whole. I would develop incentives for starting/maintaining businesses where possible.

I would support the Downtown Streetscape efforts and engage the community in reopening activities and events.

I would support Everett Fire's continue efforts as well as those of the Snohomish Health District. We still need to be vaccinating folks and getting the message out. Numbers are rising again. We must work together until everyone is safe.

I would work closely with Everett Schools to engage students in remote learning situations as well as those returning to in-person school. A lot of children will need additional support. I would partner with non-profits like Big Brothers and Big Sisters to help fill that gap.

We need special programs to address the mental health needs of the community. I would help develop and implement a program in schools and available to the community to help address the impacts of COVID and the stresses of returning to 'normal' life.

Walk in the Park

Local & Regional Transportation

Commuting time has emerged as the single strongest factor in the odds of escaping poverty. Everett needs to be more accessible for Everyone.

We must invest in local and regional mass transportation. Not integrating Everett Transit into regional routes, and long term plans, hurts everyone.

A Community Transit Merger allows us to increase services quickly. We can drastically improve commutes and, in turn, lives.

The Urbanist recently reported the merger 'would greatly increase service frequency across Everett, bring more local service to neighborhoods, reduce travel times significantly, and deeply extend the span of service for mornings, evenings, and weekends...the greatest service improvements would happen during the first two years from the merger."

Along the same vein, we must advocate for Sound Transit's extension of the light rail system. We cannot remain at the bottom of the priority list.

We can prepare now so that we have the shortest commute times throughout the region.

In District 5, I will engage with the Silver Lake Walking Trail project and support completion. I want to prioritize other efforts to make Everett more accessible and friendly to pedestrians and bicycles.

Budget Deficit

Building a House
Housing Crisis

I would use a multi-systems approach to address this crisis.

  • We need more income restricted housing.

  • We need housing in different shapes and sizes.

  • We need to review and improve our zoning.

  • We can create jobs, and housing centers near jobs.

  • Improving transit options will be life changing

Pride Flag
 GBLTQ+ Rights

I am a queer woman married to a transgender man. We love our life here. We want Everett to raise the rainbow flag in June.

I will partner with non-profit agencies serving queer kids without homes. We will develop an education campaign to address queer hate and violence.

Street Corner Protestors
BLM

As a white person, I cannot know what it is like to be a POC. It is important to me to listen to the experiences of POC and work with leaders in the community.

We need representation in our  elected leadership and public employees. We also need comprehensive anti-bias training that can be used for our public employees as well as the community.

Emergency Vehicles
Opioid Epidemic

I will support life saving efforts to get naloxone into the hands of trained adults. I would encourage a partnership between South County and Everett Fire to implement the ACT training program in Everett Schools and Community centers.

We also need to support and expand Pioneer Health Services Diversion Center in Everett. They served over 600 people in 2020, and the need is increasing.
